    MJ
THE KING OF POP..The seventh son...Since the beginning of his musical career at the age 5 as the lead singer of the Jackson Five.
Michael has made musical history like no one before. An avalanche of hits beginning with
    I Want You Back
and continuing for over four decades have guaranteed him a prominent place in the Pop Music Hall of Fame. The DVD footage is from the Michael Jackson
    BAD
album concert tour of Japan, on September 14, 1987 in Yokahama Japan. Essentially a greatest hits performance by one of Pop music's most important artists. A truly vital part of
    THE KING OF POP'S

"If you close your eyes, this DVD is great." 2009-11-01
    By bearboo2 (CA, United States)
I agree with everything J. Mathews wrote in his/her review. But I still wanted to see the concert and hoped the resolution wouldn't be "too awful." Well, it was. I spent the first few hours trying to figure out what the dancers looked like and what they were wearing. All the people looked orangish and pinkish in color, and like fun house mirror reflections where they appeared super square and chunky and out of proportion. Although I was glad to not see so much of the screaming audience as in the Bucharest concert, the zooming in and out and different camera angle shots of MJ made me dizzy after a while. If I closed my eyes and just listened, MJ's singing was/is truly amazing. In fact, the ballads he sings in this concert sound better than the ones he sings in the Bucharest concert. But if you have to close your eyes to avoid being visually assaulted by the horrific lack of resolution and clarity, you might as well just buy his CDs. Also, there are three songs where not just the resolution but also the audio is poor and since I don't know the lyrics to all of his songs, I had no idea what MJ was singing. (I have since then looked-up the song lyrics.)I love MJ as much for his dancing as I do for his singing, so this DVD was as huge disappointment. If MJ's dancing is as important as his singing to you, then buy the Bucharest concert DVD and not this one.

I felt that I just had to review this DVD because it is not fair that fans pass up this DVD, due to the

Bad or negative reviews posted. First of all I'll say that I was impressed with the quality of the video. I was expecting less because it is a third party DVD (Hudson Street). The quality is VCR-ish but viewable take note that this was made

In 1987. So for $8 you get a great and rare DVD a must for diehard MJ fans like me. Another note this Concert is filmed in Widescreen (the only one so far)so a plus for hdtv owners. So either wait for an official release or buy

This for $8 a great bargain. Most of all

If you are a diehard MJ I GURANTEE you WONT feel ripped off. The set list is as follows.

    1- Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'

2- Things I do For You

    3- Off The Wall

    4- Human Nature

    5- Heartbreak Hotel/This Place Hotel

6- She's Out of My Life

7- Jackson 5 Medley I Want You Back/The love You Save/I'll Be There

    8- Rock With You

    9- Lovely One

    10- Working Day and Night

    11- Beat It

    12- Billie Jean

13- Shake Your Body (Down to the ground)

    14- Thriller

    15- I Just Can't Stop Loving You w/Sheryl Crow

    16- Bad

I am reviewing this DVD on the week that "This Is It" coming out to the theaters. I am so excited about that so I went through my MJ stuff this past weekend. When I got this DVD, I bought it mostly based on great reviews of the people who purchased this at the time (July/August 2009) on amazon.com. I have never played it until this last weekend. I see now that reviews are not as good. People have different views on what's good or not. But for $7.99 - you can't lose with this DVD.

This is recording of Michael Jackson concert in Japan during his Bad Tour (September 1987). It looks like recording from TV broadcast of the concert. It was shot with professional, multiple cameras and multiple angles. It's all there. All shots and close-ups of the stage, of the band, of Michael are there and good. Most importantly the sound is clear and great. The concert is there in its entirety.

I am not sure what the definition of bootleg is but I wouldn't call this a bootleg. There are multiple angles to this recording and over-all quality picture quality is good. It definitely does NOT have DVD HD picture quality, nor 5.1 DTS surround sound feature. The footage might be raw and un-edited too much. The production is very low. It looks like VHS recording that was put on DVD with the minimal efforts. But, to me that gave it the raw feel of the time when it was recorded and none of the technical non-perfections did not bother me.

Michael Jackson's performance on this recording is unbelievable. I think during this time he earned the title of THE KING. I also see how people in the audience would get unconscious and pass out. Michael's singing was flawless. He was performing at the giant stadium to the audience of thousands of people and his voice was just beautiful. He didn't skip a single note. His dance moves here are stunning. We all saw his moves in his videos. But dancing during the live concert wher4e anything can go wrong is another thing. He really was amazing and breathtaking. I was surprised that on this performance/tour Michael Jackson was more R'n'B than pop. Every single music note was played (by musicians obviously). There was no sampling of his recording anywhere and even if there was, it was very rough and for seconds. There definitely was NO lip-syncing what nowadays we see all the time on any performances.

I'd recommend this DVD to everyone who's interested to see what Michael live performance was like ...

By Angela S. Hwang (Los Angeles, CA)
I was very hesistant to get this dvd because some reviews were extremely negative on the quality of the dvd. Admittedly, it is not the best quality such as the Dangerous DVD, but you have to remember that MJJ Productions actually released that officially!! If you want to get HIStory Tour DVD and Bad Tour DVD, you would have to settle for second retailers. With that being said, I am very happy with this purchase!!

Michael Jackson sang all through the concert and looked soooo happy! He smiled a lot and was just so enjoying himself with this first leg of his solo concert!

The songs were from his early days, and I LOVED seeing him so happy, young and smiling! This is a must-have dvd to your MJ collection!!!

    I highly recommend it!!!!!!!!!

First off, if you're a die-hard Michael Jackson fan, you should own this!

I personally LOVE seeing MJ performing live, to see a master at his finest.

Secondly, I see a lot of people saying "it's in horrible quality, don't buy it."

And that could be farther from the truth, please don't let the ones saying that influence your buying decision, take this into consideration: This was recorded in '87, yes they could have remastered it, but unfortunately they didn't ~~~~BUT~~~~ THE QUALITY IS FINE ENOUGH IN MY OPINION. IT'S NOT WORSE THAN VCR QUALITY. BECAUSE IF IT WAS CRAPPIER THAN THAT I WOULD TELL YA.

BESIDES............like I was saying before this is a great DVD to have if you're a big fan of MJ it being in 1080i pic quality or not shouldn't matter, plus Michael was looking HOT, GORGEOUS, SEXY AS HELL... I could go on and on. My point is the quality isn't as bad as others are saying and this DVD is so cheap you'd be an idiot not to get it.

--BUY THIS.. and if you're a QUALITY fiend... get Michael Jackson: Live in Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour as well so either way you won't lose. =)

Michael Jackson: Farewell to the King of Pop is an interesting and sometimes moving video record of collective grief outside the Staples Center in Los Angeles on July 7, 2009, the day of Michael Jackson's memorial service. While 11,000 people, who won access to the event via Internet lottery, enter and exit the Center, Farewell interviews a number of them about their recollections of and feelings toward Jackson. The interviewees represent a multi-generational cross-section of mourners, including folks who traveled in from out-of-state, ordinary denizens of L.A., and several performers and Jackson impersonators. Everyone is asked the same set of questions about the significance of Jackson's music in their lives, where they were when they heard about his death, and what he will mean to them in years to come.

Not surprisingly, everyone is in an especially expansive frame of mind, calling Jackson the greatest entertainer of all time and expressing certainty that his music and positive messages will influence generations to come. With so much Jackson coverage in the media in weeks following his death, it's hard to get the proper perspective on Michael Jackson: Farewell to the King of Pop. But in time it will be a fascinating measure of the true passion of his fans. --Tom Keogh

This video gives you a look into the Michael Jackson fan base outside the Staples Center. It is comprise of regular fans giving their thought and testimonials on the King of Pop.

Yes is sad and it did bring tears to my eyes but at the same time I said to myself I'm not alone there are million of us that feel the same way. MJ is no longer here with us.

It is heart felt because it comes from average every day people some are impersonators and they have the right to show their love for Michael by imitating him.

This is not the celebrity after celebrity that we saw at the memorial service. BTW where were all those celebrities when MJ really need it them during his darkest hour in 2005 dunno???

      By K. Hayes
This is a warning because as a die hard fan I would want someone to share their input, if it were sincere! This is not a product worth puchasing because for what seemed like an hour, they filmed the same six to eight people! The entire footage is first asking what does Michael mean to you and then where were you when you found out he died! One guy even has the nerve to say that he's not surprised Michael died the way he did because alot of Hollywood people mix drugs and stuff -so he's not surprised! Ok- was he a fan or just a random participant of the day! I wonder how he feels now that it has been declared that Michael was murdered at the hands of another! Not saying Michael was a saint but give me a break- you are at the man's memorial service! Ugh!

And no disrespect intended- but I agree with one of the other amazon comments about the people they interviewed in this film. There was not a diverse group represented and the ones shown seemed to be those who were... I'm not sure how to put it but it was not from all walks if life! They also show alot of the street hustlers who were there to make a profit off the day! Selling 8 MJ buttons for 19.99! Come on!

But honestly- as a fan this is not something I would purchase to add to my collection in remembering a man who means so much to me. From one fan to another- save your money and buy something that will bless you for years to come! purchasing stuff like the DVDs he produced of his short films, looking at past interviews and anything that gives his words is the best get- besides his

songs of course! Don't become sensitive during this time and let those who throw anything together become bait for MJ fans! Listen to the comments- although it seems as if some enjoyed this footage! If you really want to see this- I will mail you my copy! Seriously- no postage required!

"Not the greatest video by far" 2009-08-30
      By D. Dorman
I attended the memorial, and was interested in this video, hoping it would show the amazing turnout and fellowship shown on that day. This video shows what.. 10 folks? Half of them "came out of the woodwork" it looked like. This is not a true representation of the fans that I encountered that day. Yes, they all loved Michael, but why were more people not interviewed? Sad indeed. And to the lookalike that was "Trekking in the outlands of Nepal" when she was informed by a "Sherpa" that Michael Jackson had passed.. um.. no. Would I recommend this video? 5 out of 5 sherpas say NO.

"Depressing and sad representation of Michael's fans." 2009-08-28
By BRIAN A. LAFOUNTAIN (Hot Springs, Virginia United States)
I am a spiritually connected supporter of Michael Jackson. I understand what his message was, even though the media continually tried to cloud and confuse this message. As most of his longtime supporters are, we can see through the lies and the greed, which spawned the circus mentality around him. Michael's appeal to the underdog, the underprivileged and the mistreated in the world brings out the best in all of us who understood his heart and his reasons for living his life the way he did. This DVD regretfully portrays only a very tiny circle of fans who, outside of a few, all seem to be eccentric, maybe even sad individuals who have nothing else in their life. It depressed me to see the imitators. I felt bad for them. I know they felt pain and went through a lot to get to this event, but this portrayal of Michael Jackson's fans is primarily aimed at the extreme and the eccentric, which was not comforting to watch. God love all of them, though. These people know Michael's message. My point is, I would never purchase this DVD to feel better, comforted or to find closure. And absolutely no harm is meant to the kind people that participated. It was just too depressing to watch. I honestly felt more depressed after watching it. Therefore, I thought people should know that before they spend their money to buy this, it is not at all uplifting. Thank you for letting me voice my opinion.

       "NOT WHAT i THOUGHT" 2009-10-26
      By Katina M. West (indianapolis)
I thought the video would give us alot of inside scoop on Michael's house. But it waS ALOT OF AMATUER LOOKING VIDEO with fans saying their remarks.

the good thing was I was able to see a pic above Mike's bed that was disturbing and may relate to what the Rabbi's book says about the Messiah complex.

I liked the video shown about the family that accused MJ of molestation. But It is called the Untold Story of Neverland. I did not get the UNtold part. That story is told many times. I was expecting something new and or better than what is already out there.

This documentary is unbelievable! Everyone, whether they believe Michael is innocent or guilty, should see this. Larry does a phenomenal job of bringing the truth to light. I don't know what I spent on this, but it was worth every cent!!!

Rest in peace Michael - you will be missed.

"How could this have happened?" 2009-10-14
      By Alison (England)
This video was very interesting and enlightening to the truth behind the accusations and the trial. Mr Nimmer presents the documentary with sincerity, and expresses his initial uncertainty over Michael Jackson's guilt or innocence, which gives all the more veracity to the account.

He presents the information fairly and by showing original (fascinating!) footage of the police interview with the boy accuser as well as the family's rebuttal video, he allows the viewer to make up their own mind about the truth. For myself it was clear immediately that the boy was lying and acting a part and that there was nothing believable about the accusers at all. I found it amazing that the prosecution purported to believe it and that they thought anyone would find it convincing.

I also appreciated the interviews with the Jury foreman and with Tom Mesereau, who come across as honest and with great integrity.

This DVD was a great taster! - I feel that Mr Nimmer has much more material which would be very informative to see. Having said that, I was left almost reeling with shock that Michael was put through such hell on the basis of such obvious lies. Although I hadn't believed that Michael was guilty, I had not expected the accusations to be so poorly constructed, to lack any real substance, and, as such, to have made it through the processes to get to trial. I truly cannot understand the role and motives of the police in this. Why was none of this reported by the media? Why did they ignore the truth and condemn him on the basis of pyjamas?

Seeing inside Neverland you realise how kind and generous Michael was to share his home, - and I loved the Llamas!

       "Spectacular Documentary about Neverland!!!" 2009-10-12
      By moonsurface (Miami, FL)
When I saw the reference to this film on a youtube channel I just new that I wanted to see it. This documentary those not disappoint and it gives the viewer a front row into Neverland and the magical place it was.

This film has everything from interviews with the Arvizo family to interviews with Tom M. and Aphrodite Jones as well as Paul Rodriguez the jury foreman.

This documentary needs to be on every channel around the world to let people know that MJ was innocent and the way MJ was treated by the media was inhumane.

Michael Jackson's This Is It will offer Jackson fans and music lovers worldwide a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the performer as he developed, created and rehearsed for his sold-out concerts that would have taken place beginning this summer in London's O2 Arena. Chronicling the months from April through June 2009, the film is produced with the full support of the Estate of Michael Jackson and drawn from more than one hundred hours of behind-the-scenes footage, featuring Jackson rehearsing a number of his songs for the show. Audiences will be given a privileged and private look at Jackson as he has never been seen before. In raw and candid detail, Michael Jackson's This Is It captures the singer, dancer, filmmaker, architect, creative genius and great artist at work as he creates and perfects his final show. Directed by Kenny Ortega, who was both Michael Jackson's creative partner and the director of the stage show.

          Amazon.com

It's hard not to watch This Is It without feeling a mixture of sorrow and elation. When he passed away in the summer of 2009, Michael Jackson was in the midst of rehearsals for his final tour, an ambitious 50-date engagement. In editing 120 hours of rehearsal footage together, Jackson producer Kenny Ortega proves that it would've been an event for the ages. Michael performs material that spans his career, from a Motown medley to multi-platinum hits from Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad. Though he hadn't toured in 10 years, it becomes instantly apparent, despite rumors to the contrary, that Jackson was still in full possession of that unmistakable voice--high-pitched whoops and all--and that he still had the gravity-defying moves of a man half his age. Jackson and Ortega also collaborated on some real showstoppers, such as a graveyard-set "Thriller"; an imposing "They Don't Care About Us," in which several dancers appear to morph into thousands; and a film noir sequence in which the singer slides in and out of Gilda and other black-and-white classics, singing "Smooth Criminal" all the while. Not everything works, like the Jackson 5 numbers, in which he flubs a few lyrics, claiming that his earpiece isn't working properly, but as he readily acknowledges, "That's what rehearsal is for." It's a tragedy that he didn't get the chance to share this dazzling show with the world, but Ortega allows fans to feel as if it actually happened--at least onscreen. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

           "A Wonderful Gift" 2009-10-30
By N. Ryker (Greenwood, IN USA)
I saw This Is It at 12:01 am on October 28th in IMAX. It was enthralling from beginning to end - Michael's presence on stage and screen is so strong that you can't take your eyes off of him. The movie is a great representation of what the concerts would have been like...and they would have blown everybody away. You can't help singing and moving along to all the numbers, and the visuals are beautiful. The other important part of the film is the candid look at Michael himself as he interacts with others, such as his fans have rarely seen. He's dedicated, focused; an integral part of the process. He's playful and fearless, and wants to get everything just right. This Is It is a must-see/must-have for any fan...and anyone who wants to be inspired.

The only downside was what seemed to be an "out of focus" camera. At the beginning of the film, there are several shots that appear "blurry" when compared to the rest. This may be more noticable in IMAX than regular theaters because of the screen and other detail (or it might be due to some problem at the theater I was at). It disappears after a little while. This may be apparent in the Blu-ray or possibly even the DVD if it was part of the film and not because of an error.

"WOW!! I Love This Movie" 2009-10-29
          By Elizabeth Roe (Biddeford, Maine)
My boyfriend and I saw this in IMAX at Midnight Oct 27th. Being a huge fan of Michael since 1983, made me so happy to experience this moment. My boyfriend didn't really like Michael til he saw the movie. And loved it too and thought it was one of the best movies he ever seen. He's now a fan too.

The crowd clapped and screamed Michael's name at the end of every performance. There was also some clapping and whistling during some performaces. Michael's performance was just as excellent as the 80's, maybe better at some times. It so was wonderful to watch this. Throughout the movie, he tells how to do stuff and the beats of the keyboards and sounds. He tells/shows how wants the special affects and more. Thriller is the best performance I ever seen him do for this song. The whole thing is awesome with creepy zombies special affects. Earth Song was also the best ever, but sad at points. The whole movie was just excellent from beginning to end. I felt like I watching a him perform onstage and not on the screen. It felt so real, like he was right there in front of us. This is an experience I will never forget and always remember. It's sad, that None of us will ever see him perform onstage again. But watching this movie, makes me feel like I just walked away from watching him perfoprm in concert. If I could rate this above a 10, I would rate it way, way up. It deserves more than a 10. I definately recommend watching *This Is It*

Sadly after seeing the *This Is It*. It makes me a little depressed and sad. Cause of watching him for many, many years. Sadly he's gone. Watching *This Is It* made me so happy, like he was really there. Like I said in another post. It felt so real. In reality, he's gone forever. But his legacy, memories and music will always live on forever in my heart.

""I'm Glad they Did This Film"" 2009-10-29
          By Tommy Morais (Canada,New Brunswick)
When Michael Jackson died on June 25th 2009 it seems a part of the world died with him. It made many people sad all over the world and it seems that for once everyone was being nice to this man who had always been abused by the Medias; journalists, interviewers and others. When I heard of the "This Is It" movie concert I didn't know what to think. I knew it was rehearsal footage from the 50 concerts he was to perform at the O2 arena but I didn't know what was going to come out of it or what they were going to do with it. When I saw the trailers I knew I had to see this and that "This Is It" was going to be something special like I've never seen. And that's precisely what I got, I even bought my ticket in advance for the movie and feel like it was much worth it.

It amazed me how good MJ still was, the dance moves were great and fascinating to me. He was clearly the one in charge of the whole thing. He gave precise instructions of what he wanted, made sure everything was right and did everything that needed to be done. The film shows just how much Michael was respected, there were parts of it where they asked him if he wanted anything or what he thought and if he liked something, it seems no one assumed anything at all. When he talked the crew would listen and he asked things in the nicest way, never to hurt anyone. There's not a part that doesn't make him look like the nice guy he always was. There are mixed feelings about him after all the bad things that have been said about him but after watching this I don't know one could possibly believe them.

To be honest I loved every minute of it, every song was special and was great to watch. Right from the beginning of "Wanna Be Startin'Somethin'" it was amazing. No matter how many people surround him he's always the one who does things better than anyone else and the one you're watching. This Is It was really a unique experience, I felt they chose the right footage parts for the movie and made him look great in every sense. They could truly have messed things up but they didn't and came out with an amazing documentary, it's sort of a testament to his fans, it's just very special. I really liked the Thriller 3D part, it was a 3D video shoot and afterwards you see MJ coming out onstage from a spider, the show would have looked awesome. They Don't Care About Us was amazing, The Smooth Criminal part was very interesting, so was the Earth Song which had a beautiful video of a little girl in a forest, waking up to see that all of it has been destroyed. I won't go further but every song had something about them.

The stage show would have been grandiose, the fireworks, the "fireball" (quite impressive I won't spoil anything), pyrotechnics, the videos that accompany the songs are all very impressive. This could very well have been the best show ever had he lived to perform them. In the end I was quite amazed by the 1: 48 minutes I watched, I can't wait to see it again and the message Michael gives at the end is very inspiring. From the auditions of the brilliant performers to the credits with the "This Is It" song I was captivated.

The said special features will feature more of the rehearsal and a two part documentary on Michael's history and his comeback along behind the scenes. I can't wait to see more of the rehearsal and hopefully the extras will be great and there will plenty to watch.

It's hard for me to describe what watching this movie was like and what I felt about it. I know this is rehearsal footage but it's truly brilliant and while it main not catch Michael at his best it certainly catches him at his most honest. I don't have anything bad to say about either this movie or the man himself, This Is It is a must see. It doesn't matter if you watch in its theatrical run or on DVD/Blue Ray when released, this is amazing and his fans just have to see this. I will certainly be amongst those who buy it and watch it over and over again. This man gave his life to music and his fans and I don't remember where I heard or read this but I do remember that someone said: "He was a gift of god, he was a kind human being who's been mistreated by many opportunists, he's been taken advantage of but he was the nicest person and could never harm anyone" or sometime like that. These words are very truthful and really mean something to his fans.

I went to see this show today and all I can say is that Michael was in AWESOME FORM...point blank! As for the reviewer who stated that at times he looked drugged etc. etc. Do Not Believe That! First of all what you see on screen is a man whose been on earth for FIFTY YEARS that danced better than every twenty something year old on stage! He was just AWESOME and this was only rehearsal so one can only imagine how great the concerts would of been! I adore MJ!

If any of the interviews have Martin Bashir in them then count me out. It's probably not even an offical Michael Jackson release.

yes it would be nice to know what we are buying and who we are supporting. Once again just putting MJ's name on it to profit. = (
